UCS Civils
UCS Civils Case Study

UCS Civils

You would not normally think of a civil engineering contractor when you think of businesses that provide a personal service, but this is essentially what UCS Civils set about achieving.

With a board and senior management team drawn from national civil engineering contractors and yet the direct labour and plant resource comparable to a regional subcontractor, UCS Civils provided something different to the market place. They not only had the management capability to successfully run major projects but the actual resource to deliver them internally. In order to differentiate them, director Steve Barker, together with the Managing Director, developed the strapline:

National Expertise : Local People

This message ran through all communications from company brochures to the web site and in every instance evidence was provided to endorse this. All communications were of a standard and quality you would expect of a major player in the industry. However, all were bespoke and personal in their nature with customer testimonials backing up the claims by way of hard evidence.

In addition to this Steve employed external PR specialists to use the regional and national media to reinforce this message. This proved extremely successful in getting coverage for the business in the outlets read by target customers and major influencers in the industry.
